Art Cisneros is a Chumash elder leader and fire keeper. Art holds the sacred space for the Chumash People as the original native peoples of the central California Coast. His spiritual name means “Earth Man with a Good Heart” and he truly embodies these virtues. Art offers fire ceremonies, as well as healing and cleansing ceremonies for the Santa Barbara community. He also speaks throughout the U.S. for the indigenous voice and for those who have no voice. Art believes that the time is now for all of us to begin the process of restoring the balance of energy. “We can heal each and the world through our willingness to share what we hold as material wealth and what we hold in our heart as love, kindness, compassion, and generosity”.

In March, Art held a ceremony for the Pacifica Graduate Institute Clinical Program’s 30th anniversary, celebrating their mission of tending soul in the world by offering transformative education featuring internationally-recognized leaders in the arts, sciences, business, and the humanities. The ceremony, held at the Lambert campus, was set in harmony with the unique history and ecology of the locale – a peaceful setting with inspiring views of the nearby Santa Ynez Mountains, an organic mini-farm producing fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers enjoyed on both Pacifica campuses and throughout the local community.
